First Impressions

To get going, you'll need to create an account to verify your age. The adult material in the game features elements of sadism, so only adults comfortable with these kinds of scenes should play the game!

Then the game opens in familiar style, with a busty anime chick appearing out of nowhere. Textbook. The story is as unique as you'll find in any visual novel. Set in the Japanese city of Kanazawa, the hero is Hikaru Shiga, an amateur detective desperately trying to live up to his mentor's teachings. Your best friend and assistant is college student Satomi Komatsu, a sexy beautful woman who always travels along with you.

But there's a mysterious woman going around who... kicks men in the groin. You read that right. This leads our detective to uncovering the mysterious "Red Ring of Sadism," an underground group that turns women into femdom-loving bitches. It even gives them giant cocks to fuck dudes with!

Overall, first impressions were pretty good. The story is as bizarre as hentai games come, and the graphics and animation were visually impressive enough to keep me wanting more.

Detective Masochist Gameplay

Visual novels are very limited in gameplay, and Detective Masochist is no different. The game mostly consists of clicking through dialogue options until you progress the storyline.

After your childhood friend Satomi falls victim to this mysterious group and becomes a total sadist, it's up to you to find them and reverse the damage they've done. Along the way, you'll meet a few other girls and childhood friends. There's Rie Yoshinodani, a local doctor. Hotaru Hakui, a "witch in practice," who suffers from delusions. And Subaru, your long-time arch rival.

Naturally, as the storyline progresses, you get to fuck all of these big-tittied women in some very explicit sex scenes.

Everything in the game is voice acted so if you can't be bothered reading the dialogue, it's easy enough to follow it audibly instead.

The game has quite a few plot twists to keep you interested. It's actually a lot more in-depth than most adult games and incorporates quite a few impressive character arcs.

Pros

Artwork and animation is outstanding. Browser adult games rarely incorporate this level of detail.

Originally only released in Japanese language, everything has since been translated to English. All voice acting is done in English too.

The game has a nice mix of hentai, magic and fantasy elements.

The sex scenes are as detailed as one could imagine. Yes, you'll see that clitoris throb. Yes, you'll see Satomi thrust her overgrown cock into your back door.

Every character has a stats sheer you can view any time. It basically gives you their life story, including age, university attended, blood type, fashion sense, even when (or if) they lost their virginity.

The game plays in high resolution in your browser. You don't need a powerful CPU or excessive memory to play it, however you'll need at least a Windows 7 OS to view it in full.

There are other games available in the series. Detective Masochist 2 is currently available for PC from the the same site. Detective Masochist 2 includes the same hero from this version.

Cons

It's not available on every platform. If you had your heart set on playing the game on your mobile, you're gonna be disappointed. It's Windows only. There are currently no plans to release it on other platforms.

Visual novel games aren't known for their immersive gameplay and Detective Masochist is no different. If you're not a fan of clicking through dialogue, this isn't the game for you.

Should you play Detective Masochist?

If you're a fan of hentai or the visual novel genre, then yes you should definitely check out this game. The hero is likeable, the characters are three-dimensional, and the storyline is highly creative.

But like all visual novels, the game feels somewhat leashed. It's basically a choose-your-own-adventure book but with sex scenes. But still, it's a fun way to spend 4 hours.
